Designed to take advantage of production efficiencies at ASH Industries SuperMold is just one aspect of ASH Industries effort to simplify the transition from design conecpt to full production manufacturing. With the myriad of demands present in  the introduction of new thermoplastic molded products, ASH helps eliminate unnecessary and wasteful manufacturing problems.

Injection mold your first 1000* thermoplastic parts for $4900 (plus plastic material cost)

If your injection molded part will fit inside of a 2"x2" cylinder, your hardened production SuperMold and the first 1000 parts will cost $4900**.  The included single cavity tool, made from P-20 or 420 Stainless Steel will be owned by you upon completion of the first run and subsequent short runs of 1000 parts are only $600 (plus material costs). Larger quantities can provide price breaks, and the tool can be modified to help reduce part costs.

SuperMold is ideal for striaght pull, no side action part but more complex parts can also be dealt with using modular add-ons. Side action pulls, lifters, and internal threads can all be handled in a modified SuperMold. Modifications range from a few hundred dollars for some tolerance precision to a few thousand for long side action pulls.

Hardened steel SuperMold

Made from P20 or 420 stainless steel SuperMold provides a production tool that is guaranteed to last for the life of your project. Whether you need a single 1000 piece run or you are looking for volume multi-year production SuperMold can handle it. The base SuperMold includes a single cavity tool and part price, but because of the design of the program further cavities can be added to increase daily production volumes while reducing part costs. Using this system SuperMold is designed to scale up when you need it without any downtime or drop in quality.

3 Week Lead Time

From the time you submit your order until you have parts in hand, wait only three weeks. Because we have standardized the molding size we are able to keep materials on hand to begin work on your molded parts as soon as possible. Depending upon our current work load we can even expedite a SuperMold project to get parts into your hands, and your product in production, sometimes in just a matter of days.

Any Material
ASH works with a wide variety of materials in our production molding and, because SuperMold is production molding, you part is not limited in material selection. Our hardened steel tools can mold any thermoplastic material, as well as silicone.  High-temp resins, custom blends, glass and mineral filled materials, thermoplastic elastomers, trade name plastics all can be used in the SuperMold program. By allowing the use of any moldable material SuperMold allows you to test the form, fit, and function of producction parts at the cost of typical prototype molds.

Conditions

Although the following conditions apply for the $4900 pricing, additional requirements are treated as modular add-ons so that complex parts can still take advantage of the SuperMold Program.

Wall thickness greater than 3/16". Due to the molding process thick walled parts take longer to mold and require more precise molding conditions. Typcially these thick sections can be cored out as part of the design. If they can not please contact our engineers to find out what additonal costs will be incured.

Internal threads, Side holes, Undercuts in the part. These design features are the main cost drivers for most injection molds. The basic SuperMold is designed to minimize the cost of straight pull parts. The effiencies do transfer over. A simple side action to produce an udercut can be as cheap as an additonal $1000. Threaded inserts are also an easy feature to design into the mold, however part costs may increase due to the increased handling required to produce such a feature.

Insert Molded, Overmolded. Overmolding and insert molding increase the cycle time for a part and typically require additonal features in a mold, as well as the additon of the part to be overmolded. For these reasons they are not included in the base SuperMold program. Depending upon the part to be overmolded the pricing structure will vary from an additonal $300 and up.

Part Tolerances tigher than 0.005". With tooling created using EDM and CNC milling 0.005" is the tolerance we can reach on the first run. ASH has the capabilities to produce parts with much higher accuracies (down to .0005" and beyond). Additonal part tolerances require further testing and machining for as little as $500.

Shot weight over 6 oz. of plastic. Large and heavy parts take longer to mold and are subject to more issues in molding (such as voids). For parts in the 2"x2" SuperMold program it is rare that any design would require more than 6 oz. of plastic. It ismore likely that sosme features of your design can be chagned to reduce the overall weight. However if a part still weighs in over 6 oz. additonal per part fees can be assesed to your SuperMold program.
